Visit Rome, Italy and experience John Cabot University, representing Europe’s premier private liberal arts higher education institution (Accredited by Middle States and member of ACU). Their President, Dr. Pavoncello, provided an warm and sincere welcome and gave an opening presentation on the "Impact of International Education on Students", to our CGE delegation of Presidents, VPs, and their wives from Carson Newman, Hope, Ouachita, and Samford. Meetings and tours of their two campuses, located by the Tiber River, provided rich ideas and vibrant discussions for study abroad options, faculty-led trips and departmental cooperation.
Strategic site visits to the nearby Accademia dei Lincei (started with Galileo), the Vatican and modern and historic churches, the Coliseum area, and walk across ancient Rome from the top of the Spanish steps helped outlined CGE’s goal to provide for study at JCU and utilize the city as the classroom. Jacqueline Maggi and Dean Merva organized robust meetings with professors, deans and students as well as opportunities to enjoy meeting the staff and colleagues over delicious meals including our favorite, the Jewish artichokes.
At the farewell dinner, JCU leadership announced a generous gift of special scholarships for CGE students! Students who study through CGE at JCU for the semester can receive a $1100 scholarship and for the summer study term can receive a $240 scholarship. All of CGE thanks Dr. Pavoncello and JCU!
JCU’s partnership with SAI, for Study Abroad opportunities provides CGE with added support for CGE students who want to gain credits for courses in a wide range of subjects and also add the Global Christian Leadership Certificate with involvement through SAI and the “city classroom”.
